The 8th Annual Old Iron & Antique Car Show, June 25th, 2006

This show was held on June 25th, 2006, and like the the 2004 Old Iron Show, it was very close to being cancelled due to bad weather leading up to the event, but once again for the 4th straight year of events in Thompson Feild, the man upstairs, who must be an Old Iron fan, gave us his blessing and gave us a perfect afternoon, and as a result we were able to get the event in.  This was the first event that we held a cruise the night before as a pre-event to the show.

This cruise was held on Saturday night, June 24th, and consisted of about 12 Antique cars.  The meet and greet took place at Lester & Millie's from 5pm til 7pm, where everyone was treated to coffee, hot dogs and sweets.  We than began the cruise and went through St. George, on to St. Stephen where we took part in the 50th birthday celebrations for A&W.  The employees there took pictures of all the cars and owner's, as thanks for us bringing our cars in to take part in the celebrations, the management gave us all free rootbeer.  From there we went through Bayside, and on to St. Andrew's, where we were very welcomed with open arms, several people waving and clapping their hands as we drove by.  From there we headed back to St. George where we disbanded.

The day of the car show we woke up to very overcast skies, but around 10:00am the sun started to break through and gave us a perfect day.  We had a respectable 87 registered vehicle turn out, including 2 Antique Railway cars, which was down from the year before, and about half of what we expected.  There was a great turnout from the public, and the event cleared $1200.00, that was turned over to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, which was the charity chosen for the event this year.  We were abit disappointed of the lack of people who took part in the 50's style dress, our theme for the event, but those who did won some great prizes in the contest draw, the rest of the prizes were drawn off with the 50/50 tickets.  There was some great music played at this event with the sound once again provided by Gary Hooper, also great food served from Lester & Millie's portable canteen.  We also had a mock jail set up, which was kept quite busy during the event.  There were several nice prizes given away during the day.

We had eight divisions this year, with seven of the eight divisions voted on by the registered car owners themselves.  The winners were as follows:

  • Special Interest Original ~~Mr. Sid Varner ~ 1999 Dodge Viper
  • Special Interest Modified ~~Eric & Diana MacDonald ~ 1986 Monte Carlo SS
  • Antique Original ~~ Victor & Marilyn Williams ~ 1955 Lincoln Capri
  • Antique Modified ~~Mr Arthur Thibodeau ~ 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner
  • Vintage Antique Original ~~ Ross & Lois Kilpatrick ~ 1934 Ford
  • Vintage Modified ~~ Mr Gerry Vautour ~ 1937 Chev Coupe
  • Motorcycle ~~ Mr. Rick Moss ~ 1981 VW Trike
  • People's Choice trophy for 1950 - 1959 Vehicles (our theme for this year's event), ~ Victor & Marilyn Williams ~ 1955 Lincoln Capri, this was the only trophy that was voted on by the public.

As the chapter has closed on the 8th show, Lester, Millie, Wayne & Diana would like to thank all the car owner's, all the great sponsor's, our volunteer workers, and the public for making this show a huge success.......

9th ANNUAL OLD IRON & ANTIQUE SHOW, AUGUST 11, 2007

THIS SHOW WAS A BIT DIFFERENT THAN OUR PAST SHOWS.  THIS YEAR WE HELD THE SHOW IN DIPPER HARBOUR, NEW BRUNSWICK, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 7TH ANNUAL FUNDY FISHERMEN'S DAY.

THERE WAS A GOOD TURN OUT OF CARS, AND LOTS OF ACTIVITIES TO DO.  THE DAY STARTED AT 7AM WITH A PANCAKE BREAKFAST, THEN AT 9:30AM THE OPENING CEREMONIES WERE HELD AT THE DIPPER HARBOUR WHARF.

AT 10AM THERE WAS A BEAUTIFUL PARADE OF BOATS.  DURING THE DAY THERE WERE FLEA MARKET AND CRAFT AND BAKE TABLES, AN ART & AREA PHOTO DISPLAY, CRATE RACES, A CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL, DRAGON BOAT DEMONSTRATION, DIGHNY RACES, LOTS OF LOCAL MUSICAL TALENT, A SCALLOP SHUCKING CONTEST, BUOY PAINTING JUDGING, AND LATER IN THE EVENING MUSIC ON THE WHARF AND A FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS FROM BOATS AND LOCAL HOMES ALONG WITH SOME FIREWORKS.

A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. WE ARE HOPING THAT THIS WILL BE OUR NEW HOME FOR THE OLD IRON & ANTIQUE CAR SHOW.
